David Mueller

Contemporary Dancer / Choreographer / Teacher



David Mueller is a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts (Dance) course at The West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) where he worked in a number of productions including The Awesome Festival, In Transit as part of the 2005 Artrage Festival and the student choreography season of Tapas. He has also performed in the Revenge Is Sweeter Tour (The Veronicas Concert) at Challenge Stadium in February 2009, The Countdown Spectacular at Burswood Dome in 2007, The Oz Concert and attended Options Tertiary Dance Festival in Adelaide, Brent Street Summer School in Sydney and Youth Dance Advance in NSW.


In 2001, David won the West Australian Young Performer of the Year Award (Dance) and was awarded the Critics Choice 'Dancer to Watch (Perth)' in 2004 and 'Dancer to Watch (Canberra)' in 2008 by Dance Australia Magazine.


From 2006, David performed in the production of Honour Bound, directed by Nigel Jamieson and choreographed by Garry Stewart (Australian Dance Theatre). Honour Bound toured to The Sydney Opera House, Malthouse Theatre (Melbourne), The Vienna Festival, Holland Festival, The Barbican Theatre (London) as part of the bite ‘07 season and The New Zealand International Arts Festival 2008 in Wellington and won a number of Awards.


In 2008, David choreographed Willetton SHS‘s Year 11 Dance in the South of the Swan Performance, Around My Little Finger (Boys Project) for John Curtin College of the Arts Mid Year Performance Season and Part 1 of Reaction for Visible Dance.


In September, David was invited to be involved in Cadi McCarthy’s dance theatre work, Grappling for the Edge, which was created at Chez Bushwick in New York and performed at Canberra Theatre Centre. He is also a member of Perth’s newest contemporary dance company, Visible Dance, which launched at Luxe Bar in June. Visible Dance has rocketed onto the dance scene with two new works, Reaction in August and Game in December, both performed at Onyx Bar, West Perth.


In January 2009, David joined Buzz Dance Theatre for their Korean tour of Cinderella Dressed in Yella, which was featured in the ASSITEJ Children’s Winter Festival. He spent April in Canberra with Cadi McCarthy and Company performing her latest work, Restless, at Canberra Theatre Centre. David also choreographed for Hampton SHS in 'Kinetic Kaos' and Winthrop Baptist College in 'South of the Swan.' Both performed at the Octagon Theatre in June.

In 2010, David performed with Buzz Dance Theatre in At The Beach at King Street Arts Centre in Perth and Behind The Veneer at The Playhouse and Mandurah Performing Arts Centre.
